Brock did very well ... a real gentleman. Did not need much warm up even at
9:00 pm each night the temps was 85 & 87 degrees. .. I did mess him up the
first qualifying class and he took second. In the class they were to only call
a walk, trot and extended trot BUT the judge used his power and called a
collected trot (not normally called in ADS shows, unless open class, because
of difficulty) I had never asked for a collected trot from Brock ... but true
to his nature he tried. The first night I had no clues it was going to be
called (no one else did ether) so it was a little like a car running out of
gas... stop /start/stop /start/slow down/ ... a sputtering kind of trot stop, I
had him so confused . The next night we got a little time to practice and he
did much better.
Well, he did very well the next night and won the championship. The
interesting thing is that the judge was a Morgan / Saddlebred judge nationally
ranked. My trainer was concerned that Brock was the only competing horse that
was not a Morgan in the classes.
The under saddle shows (two) he never placed lower then fourth and showed in
Hunter Under-Saddle, Showmanship and Open Pleasure.
The schedule is slow now that the temps are up there. We are working to:
STRIDE Driving Dressage series, the September region 7 Andalusian show and The
national Carriage Drive held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Oct. The event runs
for six days and the turn out last year was 275 carriages teams and this year
they are limiting to 500 carriages teams. It is a week of dressage test,
shows, drives in the county, seminars and private lessen from international
drivers from all over the world.
A heartfelt congratulations to Jim and Jan Lee on their Success with
Bracchus. I'm sure there will me more in the future to see and hear about.
Thanks for sharing Jim.
